Career Moves” is a dynamic and engaging podcast designed specifically for Rider students, providing them with valuable insights, advice, and inspiration for informed career decisions and readiness. This podcast will also emphasize critical technical and overall competencies that every college should master such as Critical Thinking and Problem Solving – Time Management and Organization – Research and Information Literacy – Collaboration and Teamwork – Adaptability and Resilience–Self-Care and Well-Being – Digital Literacy and Technology Skills – Communication Skills among other topics.
“Career Moves” will feature in-depth interviews with Rider community and industry professionals and alumni from various industries, who will share their personal career journeys, including the challenges they faced, pivotal moments, and key decisions that shaped their paths.
Listeners can expect episode topics such as “Exploring Non-Traditional Career Paths,” where guests from unique professions like innovation & entrepreneurship , or remote work will discuss their experiences and opportunities outside the traditional corporate world.
“Career Exploration 101” episodes will delve into specific fields, offering comprehensive overviews of industries such as finance, technology, healthcare, or marketing. Experts in each respective field will provide insider tips, current trends, and highlight potential career paths within their industry.
“Internship and Job Search Strategies” episodes will provide practical advice on how to stand out in a competitive job market. Topics covered may include resume building, networking techniques, interview preparation, and leveraging online platforms for job hunting.
Navigating Career Transitions” episodes will focus on individuals who have successfully made career changes or pivots. Guests will share their experiences, lessons learned, and strategies for successfully transitioning into new industries or roles.
“Developing Professional Skill/ Overall Competencies” episodes will explore essential skills needed for career success, such as effective communication, leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability. Experts will provide actionable advice and resources to help students develop these skills.

Meet the Hosts
Sugenny Santiago (host) works as an Employer Relations Coordinator within the College of Arts and Science at Rider University. Joining the Career Development and Success team in June, Sugenny brings her passion as an HR and DEI professional, having graduated from CUNY and Villanova. Alongside her role, she teaches Latin American Studies at John Jay College, where she creates engaging curricula to deepen students’ knowledge of Latin American culture and social issues, while also mentoring them in career readiness. Being a lifelong learner and first-generation advocate, Sugenny remains up-to-date with the latest DEI research and practices. A resident of the Lawrenceville/Princeton area for over a decade and a proud mother of two, she enjoys participating in local short running races with her boys and baking in her free time.
Chris Young (host) works as an Employer Relations Coordinator within the School of Communication, Media, and Performing Arts. A Baltimore native and Towson University graduate, Chris is a relatively new face to the Rider community, joining the Career Development and Success team in early 2022. An experienced and versatile music educator and performer, Chris’s career path has taken a variety of twists and turns, giving him a unique perspective that he looks forward to sharing through the podcast, Career Moves. When he is not working on a musical endeavor, Chris can be found spending time with friends and family, cooking, and cheering on Baltimore/Washington DC sport teams.
Karl Craft (host), is the Associate Director of Career Development and Success at Rider, and supports Employer Relations for Norm Brodsky College of Business. Karl is Rider alumni (‘10) with a BS in Finance & International Business. After working as an analyst for a few years, he pivoted to working in nonprofit management, supporting career development and assistive technology programs for individuals with disabilities. In 2021 Karl returned to Rider to join the Career Development and Success team and combine these core aspects of his background to assist Rider students in achieving high quality career opportunities.
Meet the Producers
Madison Cornelius is from Pemberton, NJ. She’s in her first semester of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program at Rider. She’s also a graduate assistant for Career Services and works at a daycare in her hometown. Prior to her time at Rider, Maddie graduated from Muhlenberg College with a BA in Psychology and Dance along with a concentration in Dance Education. In her free time, she loves going to the gym, reading, and country line dancing with her friends.
Savannah Barr received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Exercise Science from Penn State University. She is currently enrolled in Rider’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and working in a graduate assistantship position with the CDS team which has been a great experience. Savannah’s career goal is to be a sports mental health and performance counselor focusing on how mindset and self-talk affects athletic performance and the impact competitive sports has on mental health. Savannah was a figure skater for 10 years and now coaches the sport, so this is where her passion for athlete’s mental health was sparked. She loves watching sports with friends and family and spending time with her pets.
