Behind The Screen

Behind The Screen

Scream Screen VIII has been a long time coming! The beloved, and one of Rider University’s most anticipated traditions, took place on October 27. Here is an inside look at what was going on!

The Concept

The idea that makes Scream Screen so intriguing is the fact that the Rider student body, as well as our107.7 The Bronc listeners, vote for their favorite movie based on the list of movies our exec staff selected that year. After the initial vote, The Bronc holds a second round of voting, where students can vote for one of the top five movies from the previous round. The top film from that round determines our winning movie, which only general manager John Mozes knows, and is revealed to the campus community at 8 p.m. the night of the event. This years winning movie was “The Black Phone!”

Trunk-or-Treat

Students dress up for Scream Screen

Over 25 different Rider organizations, from Greek life to a variety of student clubs and orgs, as well as a few of our sponsors and local businesses, came to participate in our Trunk-or-Treat, the second part of Scream Screen. These cars are decked out as they hand out candy to Rider students, faculty, and staff, as well as the Lawrence Township community, who can collect candy in their free SGA bag stuffed with coupons from more 107.7 The Bronc sponsors!

Food Trucks

Array of food trucks at Scream Screen

A great event can’t be complete without amazing food, and that is what the Fangtastic Food Court delivered. This year we had Yooo Cuz, Reign Storm Energy Drinks, Delorenzo’s The Burg Pizza, TCC Hibachi, Maui Lu’s Hawaiian BBQ, Bronc Bites, and Pj’s Pancake House!

Ever Changing Activities

Not only did we have a super secret scary movie and Trunk-or-Treat, but we also had Monster Mini Golf, caricature artists, pumpkin painting, a costume contest, and face painting too, all while 107.7 The Bronc played spooky music to underscore the night!

Social Media

One of the main ways we promoted and marketed Scream Screen VIII was through social media, specifically lnstagram. Fans got to follow along, counting down the days until the event. These daily videos began with in-person recorded footage that led to a ransom note and concluded with a countdown video inspired by this year’s Top 5 films. An eerie turn happened when Scream Screen was rescheduled due to rain and the countdown was reset, taking our daily spooky videos and followers on an exec staff killing spree twist to see who would be left standing.
