BOO! It’s the most wonderful time of the year…to scream!

The 107.7 The Bronc crew is stepping up their game this year, preparing for our most frightening night yet…Scream Screen number nine!

107.7 The Bronc’s Scream Scream is the only drive-in movie and trunk-or-treat experience on a college campus in the entire nation. For nine consecutive years Rider students have been driving onto campus, parking, and sitting tight for that surprise flick projected onto one of the largest inflatable screens (880 square feet of fright) on the East Coast.

Any and all students are welcome, of course. The party begins at 6 p.m. sharp. Students can grab handfuls of their favorite sweets and stash them in a free trick-or-treat bag provided by The Tanning Zone.

After collecting your treats it’s time for a bite to eat, stroll on down to the Fangtastic Food Court for some of the gang’s favorite Bronc bites. This year’s menu features: Monster Energy, Bronc Bites, DeLorenzo’s The Burg Pizza, TCC’s Hibachi, 1911 Smokehouse Barbecue, Yooo Cuz, Lady and the Shallot, and MORE!

The fun doesn’t stop there, after grabbing some delicious treats, try all of our spooktastic activities, including Hellish Axe Throwing, SGA’s amazing Haunted Maze, and RUGC’s Monster Mini-Golf. For more games and inflatables check out the many other fun frights we have in store like SEC’s Glow-in-the-Dark Frisbee Spin Art, and the Petrifying Pumpkin Patch for pumpkin painting presented by Rider Graduate Admissions.

Once night falls, the movie that you voted for, and we have kept a secret for long enough, finally debuts on our giant screen! Make sure to get a front-row spot to see the spooktastic horror flick you voted for appear right before your eyes from the comfort of your car, truck, or SUV with no one other than your best Bronc pals by your side.

This year our staff has suggested some of the most terrifying flicks yet. Co-production Directors Owen Nelson and RJ Seibert put their cinematic-loving brains to the test to compile an incredible list of flicks for all!

Voting is underway and you can still cast your vote until this Sunday, October 6.

Our final contenders for Scream Screen include:

  • Us (2019) directed by Jordan Peele

US follows a family as they encounter their frightening doppelgängers during a vacation, leading to a night full of frights. The family will fight for survival to see who survives. 107.7

  • Hereditary (2018) directed by Ari Aster

Hereditary narrates the story of a family, after the death of their unusual grandmother. The main characters uncover a legacy that leads to tragic consequences. With elements of grief and supernatural terror intertwined, the family’s fate reveals a curse unlike any other.

  • Longlegs (2024) directed by Anna Zlokovic

One of Co-Production Director, RJ Seibert’s “favorite movies of the year”

Longlegs tells the story of a young girl who once played with dolls to pursue her career in law enforcement. She discovers a mysterious creature living in her house at a young age, leading to an acquaintanceship that blurs the lines between reality, fear, and imagination.

  • Midsommar (2019) directed by Ari Aster

As described by Co-Production Director, RJ Seibert, “Scary AF!”

Midsommar follows a grieving couple who travel to Sweden for a festival, only to find themselves amid a pagan cult’s sinister celebratory rituals. Watch the lines between love and horror become indistinguishable. As our protagonist grapples with her trauma and the dark dynamics of her love and community.

  • The Blair Witch Project (1999) directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez

The Blair Witch Project chronicles a group of filmmakers embarking on a new documentary project. The group ventures into the woods of Maryland to investigate the legend of the Blair Witch.

So who’s it gonna be? Witches, dysfunctional families, or sinister creatures lurking in the darkness? It’s up to you so don’t forget to cast your vote before Sunday, October 6 to watch at 107.7 The Bronc’s Scream Screen on Friday, October 18. The Trunk-or-Treat, food, and game begin at 6 p.m. The movie starts at 8 p.m. in the Visitor’s lot at Rier University.

“I really love Scream Screen because it includes not just Rider but the Lawrence community as well. It’s always fun anticipating what movie will be on screen. As a commuter, it helps me get to know more about rider campus like what clubs or programs are involved,” said 107.7 The Bronc Alum, Bianca Bracey.

“The vibes are perfect, ranging from the kids running around with big smiles when they do the Trunk or Treat to the college students having fun with their friends at the different stations we have. Putting this event together is such a blast and every year I always have so much fun at it. Scream Screen is definitely my favorite event,” added Co-production Director, Alli Burton.

“I love all the costumes and just the big community feel to Scream Screen the most, but specifically I love the food trucks and the big games we have,” said Bronc Rock Host, Jack Jock.

Despite the horrors that await Scream Screen, the event itself has got a lot of heart. “What I love about Scream Screen is the passion that goes into the event itself. All the staff at 1077 The Bronc pour their hearts out, into it, making sure that it’s an enjoyable event for everyone who wants to come out…It’s a family event, and at Rider it’s family first,” said Chief Engineer, Owen Mccarron.

Whether you’re looking for spooks, a frightening night out, or some relaxation time from the stresses of the school week, come join 107.7 The Bronc for the ninth annual Scream Screen!
