Our story centers around Emma, a college student at the University of Delaware, who is grappling with the aftermath of a toxic relationship. When she meets Will, a charming and mysterious figure, at a local bar, Emma’s world is turned upside down. However, as their relationship blossoms, Emma discovers that Will is hiding a dark secret—a secret that could have deadly consequences.
As the tale unfolds, listeners will be taken on a rollercoaster of emotions, with unexpected twists and turns that will keep them on the edge of their seats. Featuring a talented cast of Rider University students and staff, as well as immersive sound design, “Cigs Kill” offers a gripping narrative experience that delves into the complexities of love, trust, and the consequences of hidden truths.
The “one-night-only” drama event originally aired on Friday, May 10, exclusively on 107.7 The Bronc, but don’t worry! “Cigs Kill” returns to 107.7 The Bronc on Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. EST.

Heather Batezel is an Arts Entertainment Industries Management major with a Radio and Podcasting minor from Fairless Hills, PA. Heather has been working at 107.7 The Bronc since her sophomore year working on the station’s social media platforms and marketing the station through its events, promotions, and sponsors. In addition to social media, she has also been the host of The Bronc Buzz and Getting Down to Business on The Bronc Retro station. Aside from her devotion to 107.7 The Bronc, Heather is very involved in Rider University’s community. She is a sister of Alpha Xi Delta as well as the Chapter Events, Director. In addition to this, Heather has held three internships outside of 107.7 The Bronc, including a fall internship at Warner Music Group. Heather is extremely excited to share this project, protected by John Mozes, for her Senior year of private study. After studying under John Mozes for over three years, Heather is more than thrilled to share all of the skillsets she has learned at the bronc working closely with storytelling, sound structure, and radio production.
Brandon Semmel is a Sophomore BFA Acting for Film, Television, and Theatre major who is excited to be a part of this 107.7 The Bronc Production! Rider Student Theatre Company Credits: Inside The Spitz Cabaret (Soloist), Sin of Man (Barnabis Jones), and Puffs (Wayne Hopkins).
Eleni Segerblom is a rising senior Musical Theatre major. She loves tuning in to 107.7 the Bronc and is ecstatic to be a part of this production! Past stage credits include The Prom (Mrs. Greene) at Rider, and Sister Act (Sister Mary Irene) and Mary Poppins at Virginia Musical Theatre. When not listening to the Beatles or Janis Joplin, Eleni can be found with her sisters or teaching in a dance studio.
Marissa Spencer is an upcoming senior at Rider Univeristy, majoring in journalism and musical theatre. You can catch her live on the air every Sunday at 3pm EST for “Rockin’ with Riss!” She also serves as the Web Director here at 107.7 the Bronc. Marissa is the former treasurer of the Rider Student Theatre Company as well as an actress often found in the Philadelphia/Jersey theatrical scene. Favorite roles include: Carrie White (Carrie), Little Red (Into the Woods) & Sally Brown (You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown). On the weekends you can find her in a mosh pit, scouring the flea market for antiquities or on any hiking trail within a 15 mile radius of her whereabouts. Marissa harbors an intense passion for storytelling on all platforms, from the air to the stage
Aidan Kelly is an upcoming senior BFA musical theatre major here at Rider Univeristy. Past theatrical credits include, Moonface Martin (Anything Goes), Servant/Pierre U.S (The Great Comet of 1812) & Roger (Grease.) He will be performing at the Tibbits Opera House in Cold Water Mihigan this summer as a company member in thier 2024 summer stock season.
Guy Varela is a Film and Television major from Scotch Plains, New Jersey. At 107.7 The Bronc, Guy is the new Media Services Director and is the host of his own music show, Guy FM. Besides the radio station, Guy is involved with the Rider University Network, working for The Bounce. Guy is also a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon Zeta. Outside of college, Guy loves to play soccer, volleyball, and video games. He also enjoys working out, hanging out with friends, and being a huge sports fan. Guy loves Pop Punk music, alongside Grunge and Rock, and has many favorite bands which include Blink-182, Neck Deep, and Third Eye Blind.
Ryan Casey is a brother of Theta Chi and graduate of the 2024 class!
Owen Nelson is a TV and Film major from Ocean View, NJ. He attended Ocean City High School and graduated in 2023. He hosts Getting Down to Business at The Bronc and co-hosts Watch Upon a Time with his childhood friend RJ, who also attends Rider University. Owen’s favorite sport to watch is football; he is a huge New York Giants fan. His hobbies include working on films, playing piano, and watching movies. Owen’s music tastes are all over the place, but his favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Chili Peppers has been his favorite band since he was three years old!
Owen Marcel McCarron, 20, Male. Sophomore at Rider University, Majoring in Radio & Podcasting with a Minor In Sports Media. Once performed in a play for my speech communications class, otherwise I have no prior acting history. somebody once said to me “you were made for the stage”. Voice acting is fun of course because I’m used to having an on air personality, behind a microphone.
