With the new year comes many new feats for a station like 107.7 The Bronc. From the highly anticipated Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Media Awards to our all-new Radiothon and our very first Retro station show, The Bronc’s got you covered. Strap in for a new year packed to the brim with new contests and giveaways, the hottest programming around, and a plethora of opportunities to get YOU and your friends involved and on the air!
From Friday, March 28 starting at 8 a.m. until Monday, March 31 at 10 a.m., we’re inviting all of our WRRC alumni, current station members, and friends of The Bronc to COME BACK to our airwaves for a special 72-hour live broadcast to raise money for your favorite college radio station. What began as an idea pitched by our very own former Student General Manager, Nick Witowksi, and Emily O’Connor is becoming a reality.
The IBS-nominated social media director pitched the idea to Mozes alongside Witowski with the hopes of breaking Bronc boundaries. “I always remember watching TV marathons when I was younger,” said Witowksi, explaining his initial inspirations for the project. The trio concluded that this event “would be a great way to raise money for the station considering that we want to increase the opportunities at the station,” added Witkowski. “I am really excited for the Radiothon. It’s definitely the most strenuous task our staff has had to do since I’ve been here.”
And that’s saying a lot, Nick has not only served the station for the entirety of his Rider career, but has been elected into the role of General Manager and Assistant GM for two consecutive terms now. “It is definitely a great way to connect with our alumni and make sure that our university is represented…It is something different that not a lot of college radio stations can say they do and I think that makes us stand out even more than we already do,” finalized the four-year Executive staff member. Join us in reuniting, reliving, and raising funds that will keep 107.7 The Bronc the award-winning station it is this spring! For more information on how you can get involved in our first-ever Radiothon check out the web page here.
Women Who Rock, 90’s hits, and Black History Month…Oh my! 2025 is bringing you the most diverse set of on-air jams yet! From celebrating Milestones in African American History to the women who paved the way in the music industry, Program Director, Olivia Parker, promises something enjoyable on air for all!
“I’m the most excited for Women Who Rock Weekend in March, but I’m also super excited for 90’s weekend in April, I cannot choose,” exclaimed Parker. If our very own staff cannot choose it’s definitely gonna be in your best listener interest to stay tuned all month long. “Women Who Rock has always been one of my favorites as long as I’ve been on staff, I just think it’s great that we have this programming during Women’s History Month. I have not seen any other stations dedicate their programming to solely female musicians during March,” she added. “My favorite woman who rocks is Hayley Williams of Paramore. She is the ultimate girl boss rockstar today, so be sure to tune in to hear a lot of Paramore.” Women Who Rock Weekend airs from March 14 to March 17 on 107.7 The Bronc!
“I love “Getting Jiggy With The 90s Weekend,” because it’s my most listened-to decade. While we celebrate pretty much every decade on The Retro station, the 90s have always been the closest to me musically,” she added. With a diverse taste in tunes that helps create our stations sound we can assure you Program Director, Olivia Parker, has got you covered in this New Year.
We’ve got something special in store for February. For years we’ve been celebrating Black History Month on air, but this year’s celebration will be produced by our very own Promotions Directors, Jaden and Ellis Foreman. Ellis hosted “Rider’s Top 40st Top 40” and Jaden brought you “Rhythms and Rhymes” directly after Ellis’ show every Monday last semester. These two DJs will be writing and producing this year’s “Milestones in African American History.” The 60-second audio vignettes will highlight the achievements, contributions, and impact African Americans have had here in the United States and across the globe. Be sure to tune in to both WRRC-FM and WRRC2 daily, from February 1 to 28, to hear a different milestone moment every hour from African Americans, you may not have ever heard about before, but had a profound influence on the world!
Hop on in Doctor Emmet Brown’s marvelous DeLorean time machine and experience a blast from the past on “Riding Retro.” In case the debut of “Riding Retro” passed you by on December 13, Jason Barnes will be back exclusively on 107.7 The Bronc Retro WRRC2 in 2025. Every Friday night at 9, beginning this February, Barnes will focus on a single year in every episode and take a look back on a range of categories including music, tech, fashion, travel, world events, and news within the show’s segments. “Come all, come more, hear the times we explore,” exclaimed Barnes. “I love what Jason did in December and am super excited to hear more of him on air this semester,” said Olivia Parker.
Fly Eagles Fly on the road to victory. E-A-G-L-E-S…EAGLES! “Broncs on Broad,” the 2025 IBS Nominee for Best Sports Talk Show, has got a whole lot planned for the remainder of the football season. Join hosts Hosts, Kadie DiGiuseppe, Benjamin Shinault, and Jordan Hirsh as they take you through all things Philly Sports in 2025. “In the new year, we’ve got a deep Eagles postseason run to talk about,” said an excited Jordan Hirsh. The “Broncs on Broad” audience has been anticipating this Eagles season recap since the show began in September 2024.
As most Philly sports fans are, “We’re crossing our fingers for the Super Bowl,” shouted Hirsh. “Once football season is over we’ll be focusing on the Sixers and the Philadelphia Flyers, so hopefully there will be something for everyone listening,” he added.
And drumroll please…the “Broncs on Broad” team share one larger collective love. “Our favorite sport of all is baseball, so looking forward to the Phillies talk in 2025, we will shine the most during baseball season.” Tune in every Friday from 1-3 p.m. for the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems Media Awards Nominated show that will take you on a wild ride from all things A.J. Brown to Bryce Harper.
A new year brings new awards and the 2025 Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems Media Awards are well underway as we await the ceremony on Saturday, March 8. 107.7 The Bronc’s collected a total of 11 nominations for this year’s competition, most notably the nomination for Best Radio Station (under 10,000 students). While the majority of our hardworking staff has been nationally recognized by the committee we have a certain special student breaking records and media boundaries. News Director, Kadie DiGiuseppe, is the first student to be nominated for three different awards in three different categories. DiGiuseppe has received nominations for Best News Director, Best Newscast for “The Bronc News Flash,” and Best Sports Talk Show.
As Kadie and co-host Jordan Hirsh left to broadcast a men’s basketball road game the pair received a phone call from Mozes urging them to pop back into the radio station. “So we walk back to the studio and John’s like I just got an email from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System and starts reading them off. Kadie Digiuseppe for best new director…I was like okay, I’m pretty sure I’m getting pranked right now. That was awesome it was the first nomination he read out of all 11 nominations.”As the list progressed the general manager announced “Broncs on Broad’s” nomination for Best Sports Talk Show, “Jordan and I made eye contact, and there is no actual shot that he just said that…it was a lot of shock and excitement.” exclaimed DiGiuseppe. “Jordan, Ben, and I say it all the time, especially about our show.” added DiGiuseppe.“ It hasn’t fully set in, since it’s such a nationwide thing. I mean, we are going up against schools that have their own separate radio station just for sports and just to know that our little Philly sports talk show is nominated…it’s really crazy to think about.”
