October 23 will be a spooky night at Rider University! 107.7 The Bronc is hosting our 11th annual Scream Screen drive in movie and trunk-or-treat experience! We have 13 new movies for you to vote on and a spooktacular event planned! This is the biggest fall event on campus and there will be a plethora of things to do! I asked Chase Parsons ‘29 about what he enjoyed last year as Scream Screen and he said he was busy the whole evening until the movie started! “There were so many tables. I went to I think an Advance Autoparts table, then a Frat table, then I played mini golf with my friends. Then when the cars came in we got food from one of the food trucks then chilled in the car until the movie started!”
How People Find Out About It!
This event is the talk of the campus as soon as we announce it. Chase even revealed how he found out about the festivities. “I saw a post about it on The Bronc’s Instagram, through an Instagram reel. I also heard my friends talking about it so we all decided to go!” And you can always go to our website to learn more!
A Blast From The Past – To Now!
Today, Scream Screen takes place in the C&R parking lot, but to my surprise, it actually didn’t start there! Student General Manager Kadie Digiueseppe ‘27 talked to me about Scream Screen being in a different location when she was a freshman three years ago. “It used to be in the parking lot [Faculty and Staff lot] behind the Alumni Gym … well it’s not called that anymore, but back when it was called that, it used to be there. I prefer where it is now though because we have so much more space, but we really moved up from where it used to be!”
I’m personally not a fan of following trends, however, this event does have the record as the most attended campus event, with last year’s Scream Screen X having over 2,400 attendees, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department, and an estimated over 100 people working that event!
The Movies & The Differences This Year!
There are also a lot of differences between this and other events Kadie says, “It’s never the same. It’s different every year. Last year it was the 10th anniversary, so we used movies from the past 10 years, and now the theme is all current movies. The oldest one only dates back five years. Horror has been a very successful genre recently, so we [students] have a lot of good movies to pick from.”
Talking about movies, you have the ability to vote on movies including: Obsession, Backrooms, Heart Eyes, 28 Years Later, FNAF 2, The Monkey, and MORE!

Come To The Scary Scene at Scream Screen!
Chase Parsons, who is now a sophomore, got to experience his first Scream Screen last year. And the advice he wants to give to the new freshmen is simply “Just come. You can do nothing wrong there. You get to watch a movie, free food, free games, I mean, there is a big sense of community. Everyone is here to do the same thing. Just have fun around everyone else.”
Make sure you put Scream Screen on your calendar on Friday, October 23 from 6 to 11 p.m! I mean, it’s not like you can forget because our Tiktok and Instagram will be filled with Scream Screen content on the days leading up to and on the day of!
