It’s time for the 11th installment of 107.7 The Bronc’s annual tradition, SCREAM SCREEN!!
With our Fangtastic Food Court, a spooktacular trunk-or-treat, and a multitude of games, and of course our award-winning drive-in movei you’re guaranteed to have a great time!
How Do We Promote an Event Like This?
You’ve probably heard about Scream Screen by listening to 107.7 The Bronc and 107.7 The Bronc Retro, seeing the billboards around campus, from a friend, or our spooky social media campaign!
Social Media Director Annmarie Ehlers ‘27 talked with Beyond The Mic about the inspiration behind this year’s social media campaign to promote the event. And she claims the idea actually came from something not scary at all, “I thought about the whole texting thing from Pretty Little Liars. Where someone who isn’t there texts them something as if they are, and it causes everyone to get stressed and it builds suspense. And then I also liked the idea of people getting possessed, so we took both ideas and ran with it!”
In the past we’ve created content for other campaigns; some spooky and some funny! In 2025 our former Social Media Director Emily O’ Conner ‘25, was inspired by a childhood cartoon. “Last year was inspired by Scooby Doo. With a wacky ensemble of characters, plus being scary and mysterious but then becoming kind of funny at the end, that’s what I wanted the vibes to be like for that.”

Is Scream Screen Hard to Execute?
A lot of us do different things the day of Scream Screen. Some of us are managing the games (like mini-golf), some are helping park cars, some are DJ-ing, and some are on social media. But we all have jobs to do, each with their own challenges.. Our station general manager, Kadie DiGiueseppe ‘27 explained her responsibilities to Beyond The Mic. “Me, Dan, and John did most of the planning in May [and] into summer. Our real job during the event is to just make sure everything goes smoothly and correctly. My job to prepare it was to make sure food trucks were showing up, which sponsors were going to be there, booking the screen, going over movie options, and all the logistics of it.”
Annmarie Ehlers describes what her and her social media team will be doing for the event, “There is [already] so much traction for it, but our job kind of does itself, if that makes sense. It’s such a big event that promotes itself. So for marketing we do the best, most creative things we can, but we also know that word is going to spread by word of mouth alone.”
What if It Rains? (GOD FORBID PLEASE!!!)
At 107.7 The Bronc, we ALWAYS have a backup plan. Our rain date is October 30. The day before Halloween. And everything will more or less stay the same even if the rain date goes into effect. According to Annmarie, “We would post about it on social media and pivot the storyline for the promotion to keep the plot twists boiling.” We would also rewrite and rerecord all of the station promos, sweeps, stabs and top of the hour ID’s
However, the weather looks AWESOME this year for Scream Screen XI: 56-degrees and clear at showtime. Remember Scream Screen is TODAY Friday, October 23 at 6 p.m.! See if the winning film is the film you voted for at 8 p.m.! Let’s see if it’s Obsession, Weapons, FNAF 2, I Know What You Did Last Summer, or Backrooms!
