Meet the Hosts
The Rider News Roundup
Samantha is a communications studies major with a minor in sports media. As a first-year student, she was named Rider University’s School of Communication, Journalism, and Media’s 2024-2025 Freshman of the Year. Outside of 107.7, Samantha is one of the sports editors for the Rider News, a student in the Baccalaureate Honors Program and a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. In her free time, Samantha enjoys hanging out with her friends, driving with the windows down and listening to music, and shopping.
Jasmine White is a senior journalism major with a minor in legal studies. White is features editor at the Rider News and is a tour guide for Rider admissions. She plans on attending grad school upon completion of her bachelor’s degree and is working to become a certified paralegal. She enjoys going for runs, painting and reading in her spare time. Three of her many loves are her dogs, Cinnamon and Spice, and her cat, Ramen.
Marissa Spencer is a senior journalism and musical theatre double major from Cleveland, Ohio. She is a former executive staff member of 107.7 The Bronc, where she served as the webmaster. She currently works as a digital intern at the Democratic Senate Office for the New Jersey State Senate, where she merges her passions for communication, advocacy and online content. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking & concert going!

The Rider News Roundup: The Podcast
Grace is a senior journalism major with a minor in social justice and civic engagement. She is currently the executive editor of The Rider News, where she previously held the position of features and entertainment editor. In 2024, Grace was awarded Third Place for Feature Writing by the New Jersey Press Foundation. She hopes to pursue a career as a journalist after graduation. Grace also works as a tutor at the Academic Success Center. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Yanuel Santos is a senior graphic design major with a minor in social media strategies and web design. Santos is the multimedia editor for The Rider News and the president of The Spanish Club. Santos is an aspiring creative director with hopes to one day be in charge of his own company. In his spare time, Santos enjoys listening to music and works as a tutor at the Academic Success Center. Benjamin Shinault is the current sports editor at The Rider News. Benjamin is a senior majoring in multiplatform journalism with a minor in sports media. Benjamin entered the newspaper in the Fall of 2022. In his first three years, Benjamin has been named freshman, sophomore and junior journalist of the year. Benjamin interned with the Courier Post in the summer of 2025 and served as a content intern. Benjamin also finished with second place honors in sports writing for the New Jersey Press Foundation. Also at Rider, Benjamin produces and records weekly sports reports for 107.7 The Bronc.
Caroline Haviland is a senior journalism major with a minor in political science. On campus, she serves as the managing editor for The Rider News, the university’s award-winning student newspaper. After she graduates in May 2026, Caroline plans to find a job in the journalism field, preferably in a big city like New York City. In her spare time, Caroline spends time with her friends and family, binge watches her favorite television shows, and listens to music.
