Come one come all. It’s finally here. Scream bloody murder and cheer because tonight is the spookiest night on Rider’s campus all year!
For nine years, 107.7 The Bronc has been brainstorming bigger and better ways to make Scream Screen, the campus’s biggest event of the year. If you haven’t already caught wind of it by now, 107.7 The Bronc’s Scream Scream is the only drive-in movie and trunk-or-treat experience on a college campus in the entire nation…and it’s tonight, Friday, October 18, and everyone on campus is invited! The fright fest of the year is kicking off at 6 p.m. sharp, so grab your friends, grab your keys, and buckle up for an unforgettable night to kick off the Halloween season.
As the 107.7 The Bronc crew has been preparing well into the night for these frights, Beyond the Mic had the chance to chat with Rider students in anticipation of the night!
Greek life is ready! “I’m super excited for the trunk-or-treat. I’ve never been a part of one, so I’m excited to see the costumes and who’s the most creative. Come to the Theta Chi table we’ve got lots of goodies,” said Vice-President of Theta Chi, Aidan Kelly. The Brotherhood has something special in store, so be sure to stop by their trunk before the night falls. “Come out and meet the brothers,” Kelly added.
Junior criminal justice and pre-med major, Matt Lee, is coming Friday night for the movie, “I could definitely say that I’m looking forward to Scream Screen to watch a scary movie with my friends and experience a wonderful event put on by 107.7 the Bronc,” That’s right, Scream Screen is open to any and all. Family and friends of the Rider community are more than welcome to join in on the night’s frights.
As a Freshman at Rider, Xander Blakely, will be a first-time Scream Screen attendee. “I’m excited to play mini golf with all the lovely people that are gonna come out and I’m excited to see the movie.”
In addition to Xander, we asked several Rider students what they are excited about at this year’s Scream Screen. “I’m most excited to see how everyone decorates their trunk, but I have a feeling that the sisters of Delta Phi Epsilon are gonna bring the heat,” exclaimed senior, Eleni Segerblom. Zoë Jones of Zeta Tau Alpha feels the same about Scream Screen, “I love to see all the organizations at the trunk-or-treat and to see what they do; it is a lot of fun.” You never know who you may see at this campus-wide celebration, with a plethora of student involvement opportunities, it’s a great chance to meet members of campus organizations like Xander, Eleni, and Zoe.
“One of the events I’m most excited for at Scream Screen is axe throwing,” sophomore Cassidy Sweetland shared. “I’ve never done it before and I’m interested to see if I’m a secret prodigy.” That’s right we’ve got it all including pumpkin painting with the Office of Graduate Admissions, SGA’s haunted maze, and SEC’s glow-in-the-dark frisbee spin art! Don’t forget to check out the Hellish Axe Throwing station to challenge Cassidy on her aim.
Are you all about the food? So is Junior film and TV major, Eimy Carhuaz. “Definitely one of the most exciting things are the food trucks…they always have interesting stuff and it’s always delicious.” You already know the menu is going to be full of savories and sweets, from the candy you’ll be collecting at the trunk-or-treat to 107.7 The Bronc’s Fangtastic Food Court. Scream Screen is filled to the brim with the tastiest treats from our sponsors including” Rider University’s Bronc Bites, DeLorenzo’s the Burg, Monster Energy, TCC Hibachi, Yooo Cuz, along with new sponsors Lady and the Shallot, and 1911 Smokehouse Barbeque.
Freshman Karla Ritter, a Film and TV major, cannot wait to see what appears on The Bronc’s spooky screen, but she is most excited about, “Seeing everyone get scared together!” Until night falls, our horror flick is kept top secret. The only way of finding out what’s on the scare scene is by coming to 107.7 The Bronc’s Scream Screen!
Don’t forget to say “Hi” to your 107.7 The Bronc pals as well and reach out to an event staff member if you’re interested in being a part of the radio station or perhaps even next year’s Scream Screen.
Junior business management major, Alyssa Stoddard said, “I cannot wait to hang with all my friends and ring in the holiday season.” Whether you’re looking for a sweet treat, a cozy night out on campus with friends, or an event that’ll send shivers down your spine, Scream Screen 2024 is the place to be. Junior, education major Elise Carey is thrilled to experience the spooks. “I love watching scary movies and I love Halloween and I am so excited for the spooky vibes of the night!” Carey said.
Take the night off and ring in the spookiest season with the entire campus and 107.7 The Bronc crew! See you tonight, we promise we won’t bite!
