Parker’s Deeper Look:

Parker is all over the place with music, but they tend to stick to the trends and whatever is coming out they will always give a try. Their taste in music varies from Pop rap to alternative rock, all the way to the world of groups of all different genres. They would say they have a “niche music taste” . Let’s see if that’s true. This week is some recent favorites that I have found throughout the summer.

First up, Lie by Halsey featuring Quavo, I saw a clip of Halsey singing the backing track of the song live and I was entranced basically. If you told me she was a siren I would believe you because she is an amazing vocalist. The song is serious and has a darker tone to it, which I enjoyed listening to in the car on blast. The production is just impeccable.

I recently watched Scream 7 and checked out the soundtrack and instantly fell in love with this track called The Kill by STELLA LEFTY. I’ve never heard of this artist prior to this track and I do love the vibe of her music and vocals. It was a nice addition to the film and I like the lyricism relating back to Ghostface, but a love story of it all.

Stupid song by Olivia Rodrigo, is NOT a stupid song at all, but a pop hit from her news album. I love the bridge to this song as well, and she did it so well pairing with the verses’ vibes. It goes from slow and calm to upbeat so smoothly. It’s been on repeat for days now, especially since being back in my lovergirl era.

See Through by The Band Camino, I saw this one live as an opener for 5sos and it was incredible. I thought it would be a typical “bad” opener but I genuinely fell in love with them. They were so amazing and were the best openers I have ever had for a concert. Live the song sounded a lot more rock orientated, than pop, but the track on spotify is so well combined with both vibes.

Obsessica by Malcolm Todd, at first sounded not the best but the bridge hooked me. I actually really enjoyed his new album more than I expected too. He has a unique production in this new generation of music, with catchy instrumentation and relatable gen-z story telling.

Deep End by Julia Wolf, another song by my favorite alternative girl. This one is her latest drop and when I saw she released it, oh my god was I excited? Absolutely. Her vocals and instrumentation never disappoint. This is a calmer song than her other releases, which I actually appreciated since it gives a balance in her discography.

Say It Say by Bella Kay, ugh this one is so addictive too. She never ever disappoints with her music. I’m so happy she exists as an artist because she has such a poetic way of writing and with crazy beats. It is unstoppable, and she’s coming out with an album in a few days?? Like yes please. The closing verse is my favorite part of the whole song, the build up, the vocals it is unreal.

Silver Jubilee by Audrey Hobert, is a party upbeat song that’s been circulating on TikTok and I’ve listened to Audrey before but never saw the potential of this song so I skipped it. But going back and listening to it I realize my mistake of skipping. Give it a listen and to her whole debut album!

Why by Bazzi, is one of my all time favorite songs to stream while driving at night. I will turn the volume all the way up and go bar for bar, trust me. I love Bazzi’s voice so much and he needs to come back with more music please.

Nah by Khalid, another song for this week by my goat Khalid. This one is off his most recent album from 2025 and he really outdid himself with this one. The lyrics? Crazy. The production? Unreal. The beat? Oh turn that up all the way. Stream them all!!!!

Natalie’s Deeper Look

Afraid to Die is the newest song by one of my favorite bands, CRAWLERS, and I can’t wait for more people to hear it. I’ve loved CRAWLERS ever since I first heard them, probably around 2019, and it’s been great getting to hear them evolve into their new sound and play around with genres.  It’s been almost 2 years since they last released music or did a big tour, and I am so excited to see what comes next for them!

Watching the Girls Like Girls movie in theaters was like having all of my middle school emotions ripped out of me and laid bare, and hearing this song in the ending almost made me cry. Girls Like Girls is just such a longing, happy song about figuring out who you are and accepting yourself, and I’d be lying if I said I’ve stopped playing it,

I absolutely adore The Crane Wives, and while I’m a huge fan of their faster, more chaotic songs, Unraveling will always be one of my favorites. Even though it gets overshadowed by their more popular songs, Unraveling truly showcases the emotional depth that I love about The Crane Wives, and I love being able to just lay down and listen to them.

Obviously Chappell Roan is incredible, and I love her, and people need to listen to slower, sadder songs as well as high energy bangers! California hits me right in the gut every time that I listen to it, and is just such a beautiful song. The whole Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess album is incredible, and I love when artists are able to pull off multiple emotions in one album, and still make it feel cohesive.

Now where would I be talking about multiple emotions in one album if not leading y’all back to you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. I haven’t been the biggest Olivia Rodrigo fan, but I’ve been loving her most recent stuff. The song I’ve been most excited about is What’s Wrong With Me, since she collabed with Robert Smith from one of my favorite bands, The Cure. There’s been a lot of covers of The Cure songs, and a lot of kinda bad ones at that, but when I heard Olivia sing Just Like Heaven, I fell in love. I think it’s incredible how she is paying homage to an older generation of musicians, and how she was able to integrate stylistic choices of The Cure in this song!

Mitski has been one of my favorite artists for a while, and for good reason. I know she usually gets branded as “sad girl music”, but personally I think that that confines her to a box and diminishes how powerful and beautiful her lyrics are, and I Will is one of my favorites of hers.

I’m a huge Lauver, so I just had to put some (more) Laufey into the stations rotation! Falling Behind is just such a beautiful song, and I love playing it.

A break from the sad and depressing, the next song is Silk/ S Chiffon by MUNA and Pheobe Bridgers! In the opposite way of Chappell and The Crane Wives, I feel like Pheobe is usually relegated to more “sad girl music”, when her more upbeat songs are also bangers. I love blasting Silk Chiffon while driving with the windows down, and the music video is even modeled after one of my favorite movies, But I’m A Cheerleader!

Alexa Dark is a fairly underground artist, who I only found because she opened for CRAWLERS one year, but I love her voice. She had opened up her set with Fade to Black and Blue, and I thought about it for the whole night after; she was just so enchanting.

I’ve had Don’t Delete The Kisses by Wolf Alice on repeat for the past week, and I think more people should definitely give it a listen! I love the vibe of the song, and it’s another great one to just blast whenever you’re alone and yearning.
