Parker’s Deeper Look:

Parker is all over the place with music, but they tend to stick to the trends and whatever is coming out they will always give a try. Their taste in music varies from Pop rap to alternative rock, all the way to the world of groups of all different genres. They would say they have a “niche music taste” . Let’s see if that’s true. This week I have selected all my favorite yearning/breakup songs. Be ready to cry or be blessed with the greatest songs you’ll ever feel in your core.

First up, Call Your Mom by Noah Kahan featuring Lizzy McAlpine. One of the lyrics from this song was my senior quote, “give yourself a reason.” It is the epitome of giving yourself hope and keeping going in the hardship of life. The meaning behind the song is so significant to me as it vocalizes the feeling of loving someone or something to a point you will go out your way for them, like calling their mom to make sure they are okay. Noah adding Lizzy onto this track in the deluxe was a perfect attribution as she is one of the artists that made me get through high school. Her voice is soothing and harmonizes perfectly with Noah’s. Give it a listen.

This week we have two Ethel Cain songs. To start Punish encapsulates the feeling of quite literally being punished by love and your entrapment of it, as Hayden (Ethel Cain) writes in the song. The whole album this song is on was Hayden experimenting with drone music, which I thought I was gonna not vibe with, but I really did, especially listening to it in the car on full blast. The songs are incredibly long and have built up that once the climax of the song hits, it is amazing. Please give a listen but make sure you are wearing headphones or in the car.

Oh my god this next song, forevermore by Marco Luka is amazing. “You say I’m in love when I’m here, But, girl, you’re in love with nobody, ‘Cause someday, you’ll go back to him, And someday you’ll see I was trying” this song was quite personal to me when I think about me fresh out of my long term breakup. I truly yearn when this song plays and reminisce on the feelings post-breakup I felt. But trust me I’ve started to heal more and more so I can admire this song for it’s great vocals and production from Marco.

Another song that sums up the yearning feel is Parachute by Hayley Williams. I love Paramore so discovering this solo album was a blessing in disguise. The beat and bass of this song is addicting. She makes a song for all of those who would’ve loved someone till the end of time, but that person you love was just unreliable for you. It hurts, but Hayley makes it a great listen.

Headlights by In Color. Don’t get me started on this masterpiece. I discovered it in November of 2025 and it has been on repeat ever since. If you know you’re heading or driving to the wrong person’s place late at night; this is your song. “You know you look so pretty when you say I’m not the one” Ugh, don’t get me started. In all honesty, this is the song to play when you yearn for the one you know you cannot have ever again. The beat too? It’s such a concert beat.

Another song I found around October and November 2025 on Tiktok. Affection by BETWEEN FRIENDS makes me feel so seen and like the main character every time it comes on in the car, if I’m the passenger I will be acting like I’m the main character.

Okay, my favorite song of all time: F*ck Me Eyes by Ethel Cain. This is the straight up story of my life as she encapsulates the feeling of never being that perfect angel “he” loves and sees. The repeated lyrics of “But no one ever wants to take her home” honestly shook me to my core, as after my long term relationship it felt like no one ever did or would want to take me back home for…forever. This is my go-to crying on the ride home song. Also, as a non-binary person I felt as if every person that made me the other person in the relationship I would never compare to as they were feminine girls, and I was just me. It will always be in the back of my mind…this song.

Next up, Backseat by Balu Brigada this is less of a yearning song, but a hype yearn song. The vocals and production of the beat clashes perfectly. It lowkey makes me wanna go 90 in a 65….but I would never. (I would). (I mean who said that). That’s really all I have to say for this song. It really is just a good song off the bat.

Let’s talk about my girl Beabadoobee and her song Talk (hehe get it). The rock aspect of this song makes it so out of the ordinary from when I first found out about Baebadoobee, which was with her song Tired. The switch up of going from a melancholy song to a borderline indie rock song was such a move. Now I love her music no matter if it’s sad or hype.

Lastly, Slut Era Interlude. I fear this song confirmed that I was a tad evil after my breakup as it truly just is the feeling of wanting to fill the void of your past lover. However, seeing a clip of ROLE MODEL sing this song live was so insane. He practically screams, and I know in his heart he was feeling this song just as much as me. Please listen but do not follow the lead of an evil avoidant man, be better than me and ROLE MODEL.

Natalie’s Deeper Look

Starting off strong, we have Madwoman by Laufey! I have been listening to this song on repeat since it released last week, I am a huge Lauver and was so hype to see so many of my favorite celebs in this music video! I just love Laufey’s voice and everything about this song

Next we have two songs from my favorite band of all time, Boys Go To Jupiter! I have been obsessed with them for the past few years, and I just have to say that they are the coolest band ever. BGTJ is made up mainly of Jess Kantorowitz (vocals), Caleb Martin-Rosenthal (keys) and Luke Volkert (guitar), but are also supported by a jazz band, and sometimes a strings section, which is absolutely crazy to see live. Last Last Time was the first song of theirs that I listened to, back when it was first released, and I immediately fell in love. It was so catchy, and I knew that I just had to keep listening to this band. Virginia was such an experience, it was released the day I went to my first concert of theirs with some of my friends, and it was so amazing to scream out the lyrics while the band was doing crazy shenanigans on stage, and is probably now my favorite song of theirs. Virginia tells the story of a rising star in the form of a disco ballad  ghost story and the music video will melt your face off (literally).

Doing a full 180, another one of my favorite bands is The Crane Wives, and Black Hole Fantasy is one of my favorite songs from their most recent album, Beyond Beyond Beyond. I love all their music, especially their lyricism, and this song has been stuck in my head. The Crane Wives is a great folk band, and all of their songs just have so much energy and passion.

Paramore has been one of my favorite bands since probably middle school, and for good reason. If you haven’t heard Hayley Williams belt out a song, you haven’t truly lived. Recently, I’ve been listening to her newest solo project, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, and felt really nostalgic about the early Paramore era, and Decode and Ignorance have got to be my top songs of theirs.

I’ve been obsessed with ADELA since I heard about her on Dream Academy (the survival show that led to the creation of KATSEYE), and I’ve been waiting for her to blow up. Machine Girl is probably my favorite song of hers, because it is so catchy and a great criticism of all the people who hate her because of a critique she made on DA of a now KATSEYE member not showing up to practices. I love ADELA and am so excited for her next release, KGB!

Ever since I watched Heated Rivalry over Winter Break, I’ve been listening to the soundtrack on repeat, and My Moon My Man has got to be my go to song. I just love the vibe, and it’s a great song to have playing in the background while I craft or do homework.

I’m kinda a really big theater kid, and Frank Wildhorn has got to be one of my favorite composers. He has worked on so many great shows like Jekyll and Hyde, Bonnie and Clyde, The Count of Monte Cristo, and two of my favorites (as an anime fan), Death Note: The Musical (which I’m Ready comes from) and Your Lie in April, which was performed last year, directed by MattPatt. I’m Ready is such a fun song, and I love how it is staged as a pop concert in the middle of the musical.

2515 is such a great song, and by such a great band. I found Wasia Project through Will Gao being in Heartstopper, and have been in love with their songs. I think its so cool how they are a sibling duo making music together (my brother would never), and I just love the vibe of their songs.
