Parker’s Deeper Look:

Parker is all over the place with music, but they tend to stick to the trends and whatever is coming out they will always give a try. Their taste in music varies from Pop rap to alternative rock, all the way to the world of groups of all different genres. They would say they have a “niche music taste” . Let’s see if that’s true. This week I have selected 10 metal, rock, and alt songs that I love. I hope you all enjoy it!

High Hopes instant beat drop is addicting. I love the group’s metal vocals and instrumentals so much. This is my second favorite song by Kublai Khan TX! The first favorite and one that started it all will be mentioned soon! But High Hopes guitarist and drummer are so incredibly talented and it’s showcased very well in this song.

Next up, Pearl by my girl JULIA WOLF! Just another banger off her PRESSURE album. Her vocals are so soft yet aggressive over the intense instrumental which is heaven to my ears.

If Rain Is What You Want by Slipknot, the last verse is where this song gets me hooked as the instrumental build up is so so good yet so simple, which makes it such an incredible song to listen to. I’m not even a huge fan of Slipknot but this is a good song I gotta admit.

Kublai Khan TX is one of my favorite metal groups of all time, and the song that started it all was Antpile! It is an instrumental heavy song which I appreciate because I love bass, drums, and the guitar’s influence on the song. The minimal lyrics being profanity is somewhat funny to me because they have so many other politically aware and outspoken songs on the album. So, to have an instrumental focused song was a great balance between speaking out and letting the music instruments do it for you.

Floral & Fading by Pierce the Veil (PTV), my all time favorite hard rock group and one of my favorite tracks off the Misadventures album! The instant vocal adlib in the beginning was stuck in my head for days and weeks. It is so addictive from Vic Fuentes’ amazing vocals.

Another PTV song from the Misadventures album as well: Gold Medal Ribbon! This one I got put onto in a car ride way back in high school and it made me listen to the whole album, which led me to find so many great underrated PTV hits. Now, this track’s introduction and first verse is so so good! I love it so much and was singing it all the time when I went to Houston in 2025. You can ask my best friend who I was visiting about how much I was humming it and playing just that bit.

Okay, now an OG rock song that put me onto Rob Zombie: Living Dead Girl! I wanna get that title tattooed on me so bad because it is so real. But in all seriousness Rob Zombie’s production and instrumental in this song is top tier. The vocal adlib that opens the song is another reason this made it into the top 10 for this week. Also, me being alternative and goth I just imagine myself embodying this song completely.

Another song with an additive vocal adlib/hum tune in the introduction is Cloud Nine by Evanescene. Amy Lee is such a powerful amazing vocalist for this group. She gives nothing but an amazing performance in this track. Please listen if you haven’t already!

An underrated not too well known artist Amira Elfkey released Everything I Do Is For You in 2023, and since then she has left her mark on me with this track and her demo of Tonight. I love giving some spotlight to my newer rock girlies because they truly deserve to shine.

Lastly, Just Pretend by Bad Omens went trending on social media and introduced me more into their world of alternative metal music. I’m very big into vocals and a clear beat so this song and their entire album THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND is amazing and has so many other great tracks. Give a listen if you can!

Natalie’s Deeper Look

Starting off strong, we have Madwoman by Laufey! I have been listening to this song on repeat since it released last week, I am a huge Lauver and was so hype to see so many of my favorite celebs in this music video! I just love Laufey’s voice and everything about this song

Next we have two songs from my favorite band of all time, Boys Go To Jupiter! I have been obsessed with them for the past few years, and I just have to say that they are the coolest band ever. BGTJ is made up mainly of Jess Kantorowitz (vocals), Caleb Martin-Rosenthal (keys) and Luke Volkert (guitar), but are also supported by a jazz band, and sometimes a strings section, which is absolutely crazy to see live. Last Last Time was the first song of theirs that I listened to, back when it was first released, and I immediately fell in love. It was so catchy, and I knew that I just had to keep listening to this band. Virginia was such an experience, it was released the day I went to my first concert of theirs with some of my friends, and it was so amazing to scream out the lyrics while the band was doing crazy shenanigans on stage, and is probably now my favorite song of theirs. Virginia tells the story of a rising star in the form of a disco ballad  ghost story and the music video will melt your face off (literally).

Doing a full 180, another one of my favorite bands is The Crane Wives, and Black Hole Fantasy is one of my favorite songs from their most recent album, Beyond Beyond Beyond. I love all their music, especially their lyricism, and this song has been stuck in my head. The Crane Wives is a great folk band, and all of their songs just have so much energy and passion.

Paramore has been one of my favorite bands since probably middle school, and for good reason. If you haven’t heard Hayley Williams belt out a song, you haven’t truly lived. Recently, I’ve been listening to her newest solo project, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, and felt really nostalgic about the early Paramore era, and Decode and Ignorance have got to be my top songs of theirs.

I’ve been obsessed with ADELA since I heard about her on Dream Academy (the survival show that led to the creation of KATSEYE), and I’ve been waiting for her to blow up. Machine Girl is probably my favorite song of hers, because it is so catchy and a great criticism of all the people who hate her because of a critique she made on DA of a now KATSEYE member not showing up to practices. I love ADELA and am so excited for her next release, KGB!

Ever since I watched Heated Rivalry over Winter Break, I’ve been listening to the soundtrack on repeat, and My Moon My Man has got to be my go to song. I just love the vibe, and it’s a great song to have playing in the background while I craft or do homework.

I’m kinda a really big theater kid, and Frank Wildhorn has got to be one of my favorite composers. He has worked on so many great shows like Jekyll and Hyde, Bonnie and Clyde, The Count of Monte Cristo, and two of my favorites (as an anime fan), Death Note: The Musical (which I’m Ready comes from) and Your Lie in April, which was performed last year, directed by MattPatt. I’m Ready is such a fun song, and I love how it is staged as a pop concert in the middle of the musical.

2515 is such a great song, and by such a great band. I found Wasia Project through Will Gao being in Heartstopper, and have been in love with their songs. I think its so cool how they are a sibling duo making music together (my brother would never), and I just love the vibe of their songs.
