Bella’s Playlist
Bella’s Deeper Look:
Bella has always been the type to not stick to just one genre of music; She loves anything that sounds good to her ears. You can find all sorts of stuff on her playlist from Rap to Electronic. Lately she has been listening to more Rap and R&B artists like Lucki, Earl Sweatshirt, Future, and Frank Ocean. Growing up, her parents introduced her to 80s and 90s hip-hop artists like Wu-Tang Clan, The Notorious B.I.G, 2Pac, and Nas, which she has been listening to since then. Despite growing up with hip-hop music, she loves discovering different types of music and often says “I can’t pick,” when asked what her favorite music genre is!
Listening to Crystalline by Bjork is such an out of body experience. Bjork has such a way with creating her instrumentals: the one on this song is insane. The ending alone is astral projection inducing. Okay, I may be exaggerating a little bit, but as a whole, the song is an absolute banger.
I honestly should have more Steve Lacy on here. I’m surprised I haven’t added him that much. Anyways, I was reminded of how good his song Guide is. Honestly, the whole Apollo XXI album/EP is amazing and if you haven’t listened to it yet, then what are you waiting for?
A few days ago, I was in the car with my mom and she had the aux. Tonight by Xscape started playing and I fell in love. The harmonizing in the beginning is just so beautiful. Their voices just fill the song so beautifully, especially with the song being completely vocals. It is almost impressive how a song with little to no instrumental sounds so good.
Oh Que Sera and Aguanile are some of the most iconic Latin songs, at least in my family. Every family gathering, at least one of these songs plays and I have always loved them. Listening to these songs now, remind me of when I was younger and spending time with my family. Those songs give me bittersweet nostalgia.
On the same topic of Latin songs, Bad Bunny has, not only helped me appreciate my heritage, but remember it as well. Growing up and being so busy almost makes me forget who I was. Seeing his Superbowl performance was so refreshing and felt amazing. His new album perfectly blends the traditional and modern sounds of Latin music. One of my favorites off of the album is CAFe CON RON. Expect more Bad Bunny on here in the future. Yes, that is a threat.
Of course, I have to feature OutKast on here at least twice a month. This week, I am highlighting their song She Lives In My Lap, which I feel is an underrated one. It is such a unique love song and that is the main thing I love about OutKast: no one song sounds the same.
Les Fleurs by Minnie Riperton is such a beautiful song. This song always reminds me to breathe, relax, take a break, and ground myself. It is a very good song to set you in the present, especially when you have been feeling overwhelmed. I know I listen to this song whenever I want to relax and feel present.
redveil is definitely one of the best underrated artists of this time. His songs Soulfood and mini me are some of my favorites. He is so versatile in his styles; Soulfood has more of an alt rap vibe while mini me is more R&B/Soul. Both genres are some of my favorites and redveil executes them beautifully, I highly suggest giving him a listen.

RJ’s Deeper Look
Here’s the EPIC lineup of Christmas Jams I’ve been listening to to get into the Holiday Spirit! The first three tracks are classics in my house and I knew they needed to be included. For Little Saint Nick by The Beach Boys, my grandma was always a huge fan of theirs and that is the biggest inspiration for having it on the playlist. Fiona Apple is one of my favorite artists of all time, she ranked 9th on my top artists for the year, I didn’t know we had this song in out system until I was scrolling for more Christmas music. After giving it a listen I am a big fan of this track and I hope you enjoy listening to it when the MDP comes on! Step Into Christmas is probably #1 or #2 for my favorite Christmas songs of all time. And the double Laufey and jschlatt was inspired by the fact I like them both and feel they should play more on the airwaves…
Anyways, Happy Holidays and I hope you enjoy the Christmas Tracks we’ll be playing for the next few weeks!
