Contest

Submit an original recipe featuring cheese as one of the main ingredients via the Rider Student Top Chef: The Big Cheese contest page at 1077TheBronc.com/TheBigCheese from Monday, October 24, 2022 to Friday, November 18, 2022.

Contest is open to full or part-time Rider students enrolled during the 2022 fall semester. Please note: this is a savory contest. No desserts will be accepted

Submissions can be an appetizer, breakfast, lunch or dinner entrée, but must feature cheese as one of its main ingredients. Any varieties of cheese will be accepted. Recipes can be baked, fried, roasted, grilled, sautéed, boiled, slow-cooked, etc. Recipes will be judged on originality, creativity, taste, visual and crowd appeal; and if the recipe reflects the theme of this year’s contest successfully. Daly’s is a nut-free dining facility. Recipes may not include the following: peanuts, tree nuts and coconut.

All recipes must be received by Friday, November 18, 2022 at 2 p.m. Judges will select three qualifying and three alternates recipes from the many student submissions compiled during the entry period listed above. 

Qualifying students will have the opportunity to compete individually or team up with  member of their family or an on-campus or off-campus friend at the Rider Student Top Chef: The Big Cheese Finale on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at one of three culinary stations at Daly Dining Hall. 

Entrants must be present and be able to prep, cook and serve their recipe, starting between Noon and 2 p.m, the day of the finale to be eligible for prizes. Each contestant will receive a minimum of 2 ½ hours prep time. No contestant substitutions will be permitted. 

In the event a qualifying student chef can’t compete in the Rider Student Top Chef: The Rider Student Big Cheese Finale an alternate student chef will be chosen from the list of alternates. Gourmet Dining, LLC will be on-hand to assist each student chef in the preparation of his/her qualifying recipe and to insure both the student and the university are compliant with all Lawrence Township Board of Health codes. 

During the performance cooking competition Rider students will have the opportunity to sample and vote for each qualifying recipe. Voting will take place via 107.7 The Bronc’s website at 1077thebronc.com/TheBigCheese from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

The student/recipe with the most votes will be deemed winner of Rider Student Top Chef: The Big Cheese and announced live at Daly Dining Hall and live on 107.7 The Bronc.
